Sinopse: Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper) perdeu absolutamente tudo na vida: sua casa, o emprego e a esposa. Deprimido, ele vai parar em um sanatório, onde fica internado por oito meses. Ao sair, Pat passa a morar com os pais e está decidido a reconstruir sua vida, o que inclui retomar o casamento, passando por cima de todos os problemas que teve. Entretanto, seu novo plano muda por completo quando ele conhece Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), uma garota misteriosa que também tem seus problemas.
