Steppenwolf Featuring John Kay – Born To Be Wild / A Retrospective 1966-1990 é uma viagem eletrizante pelo espírito rebelde de uma das bandas icônicas do rock canadense. Com 34 faixas, esta coletânea captura o som cru e proto-heavy metal do Steppenwolf, misturando riffs pesados, grooves psicodélicos e letras com crítica social. Destaques incluem o hino atemporal “Born to Be Wild”, o hipnótico “Magic Carpet Ride” e o intenso “The Pusher”. O álbum traz faixas do início com The Sparrow, canções solo de John Kay e versões ao vivo, mostrando a evolução da banda. A participação especial de Lowell George em “Live Your Life” de John Kay adiciona um toque soul. “Born to Be Wild” foi escrita por Dennis Edmonton (Mars Bonfire) inspirado por um anúncio de motocicleta.
