The Recordings 1969-1974, lançado em março de 2026 pela Esoteric Recordings (Cherry Red), reúne o blues-rock sujo e jazzado do Blodwyn Pig em três CDs, com os dois álbuns de estúdio, singles e sessões da BBC.
Mick Abrahams (guitarra e vocais, ex-Jethro Tull) lidera a formação clássica ao lado de Jack Lancaster (saxofone, flauta e violino), Andy Pyle (baixo) e Ron Berg (bateria). Faixas como o blues pesado de “Ain’t Ya Coming Home, Babe?”, o rock com troca de riffs de “See My Way” e o jazz fusion de “The Modern Alchemist” mostram o som marcante: guitarra slide afiada de Abrahams, sopros e flauta de Lancaster e uma base rítmica que permite improvisos livres.
Curiosidade: o grupo nasceu logo depois que Abrahams saiu do Jethro Tull em 1968, buscando um caminho mais blues, e logo virou favorito do underground britânico. O box traz Ahead Rings Out (1969) e Getting To This (1970) remasterizados, com bônus de singles, outtakes e 16 faixas ao vivo da BBC entre 1969 e 1974, incluindo o retorno de 1974.
Os dois discos originais chegaram ao top 10 do Reino Unido e foram gravados para a Chrysalis. Abrahams reformou a banda em 1974 só para sessões da BBC com John Peel e o programa In Concert, registradas aqui em alta qualidade.
