A Magia Elétrica de Magic Sam: Ao Vivo no Avant Garde!

Imagine mergulhar em 1968, um ano de rebeliões e sonhos, com Magic Sam incendiando o palco do Avant Garde em Milwaukee. Esse álbum ao vivo, gravado em 22 de junho de 1968 e lançado em 2013 pela Delmark, é uma explosão de Chicago blues elétrico – cru, soulful e hipnótico. O som de Sam é único: guitarra com tremolo vibrante, voz que corta a alma como uma lâmina afiada, misturando harmonias profundas com riffs que pulsam de energia. Acompanhado pelo baixista Big Mojo Elem e o baterista Bob Richey, o trio entrega mais de 65 minutos de puro fogo.

"San-Ho-Zay" abre com um instrumental instrumental frenético, "All Your Love (I Miss Loving)" (de Otis Rush) ganha nova vida com o toque mágico de Sam, e covers como "Hoochie Coochie Man" (Willie Dixon) e "Still a Fool" (Muddy Waters) brilham com intensidade fresca. "Lookin' Good" é um rockabilly blues greasoso que te faz dançar!

Gravado por um engenheiro amador, o estudante Jim Charne, com equipamento básico – mas o áudio é cristalino, capturando a intimidade do clube como se você estivesse lá. O Avant Garde, um café folk radical que recebia hippies e protestadores, foi fechado pela polícia meses depois, em meio à agitação social pré-Woodstock. Magic Sam, que morreu jovem aos 32, deixa aqui um testamento eterno de genialidade.
