Booker T. Jones brilha em Evergreen, um álbum que troca o funk cru dos M.G.'s por uma vibe mellow, misturando soul, folk, reggae e soul-jazz. Faixas como “Jamaica Song” e “Flamingo” destacam seu talento no órgão Hammond B3, enquanto “Evergreen” exsuda emoção introspectiva. Gravado na Califórnia após a saída de Jones da Stax, o disco reflete sua reinvenção artística. A faixa “Flamingo” nasceu de improvisos no estúdio Record Plant.
