Phil Alvin, ex-líder dos Blasters, brilha em Un "Sung Stories" (1986, relançado em 2023), um mergulho vibrante na Americana pré-rock. Misturando blues, jazz, country e pop dos anos 1925-1953, o álbum entrega faixas marcantes como “Someone Stole Gabriel’s Horn” e “Daddy Rollin’ Stone”. A colaboração com Sun Ra e sua Arkestra, além da Dirty Dozen Brass Band, cria uma sonoridade única. Alvin garimpou essas pérolas em 78s na casa de família! Destaque: as gravações com Sun Ra foram suas últimas com a Arkestra.
