Van Morrison mergulhando de cabeça nos padrões jazzísticos dos anos 30 e 40 como se estivesse num clube de Nova York dos velhos tempos. Versatile, o 38º álbum de estúdio dele, lançado em 1º de dezembro de 2017 pela Caroline/Exile, é puro vocal jazz com swing, baladas suaves e blues leve – o segundo disco do ano, logo após o blues de Roll with the Punches.
Morrison no vocal e sax alto, Jay Berliner na guitarra acústica espanhola, Dave Keary na elétrica, Paul Moran nos teclados e trompete (diretor musical), Paul Moore no baixo e Sir James Galway convidado na flauta. 
Destaques: o swing original e dançante de “Broken Record” (composta por ele), a delicadeza de “A Foggy Day” (Gershwin) com sax cortante e o instrumental lindo de “Affirmation”, onde a flauta de Galway flutua como um sonho. Improvisos suaves, seção de sopros e aquele balanço intimista que transforma cada faixa num papo de bar.
Curiosidade: Morrison produziu tudo e misturou gravações de 2013 com sessões novas de 2017, trazendo de volta o espírito dos standards que ouvia no rádio de Belfast. É o segundo álbum do ano, com regravações de hits antigos dele como “I Forgot That Love Existed”, provando que aos 72 o cara ainda reinventa o jazz com a mesma gana de sempre.
