O Blues que Une Harmonica e Slide em Êxtase

Owing the Devil a Day's Work (2015), de Phil Wiggins e Dom Turner, é um mergulho acústico no Piedmont blues – harmonica magistral de Wiggins entrelaçada ao slide guitar visceral de Turner, misturando covers clássicos e originais em uma tapeçaria crua e apaixonada. Destaques? O groove hipnótico de "Going Down South" (R.L. Burnside), o lamento etéreo de "Louis Collins" (Mississippi John Hurt) e o original "No Ice in My Bourbon", com sua urgência boozy que faz o coração bater forte. A sonoridade, Intimidade duo, sem frescuras, capturando a essência reverencial dos mestres.

Gravado em takes rápidos durante a visita de Wiggins à Austrália em outubro de 2014, o álbum surgiu de jam sessions improvisadas em estúdios caseiros, priorizando a química espontânea. Lançado como estreia pós-morte de John Cephas (parceiro de Wiggins por 35 anos), é um tributo à resiliência do blues, com Turner – fundador dos Backsliders.
