Grateful Dead: O Som Psicodélico de San Francisco em 1967

Imagine o caos elétrico do Winterland Arena, em 1967, com o Grateful Dead no auge de sua alquimia sonora. Hometown Blues (lançado em 2022 pela Left Field Media) captura um show radiofônico lendário, misturando blues cru, jams hipnóticas e psicodelia pura – o DNA do Dead em sua forma mais selvagem e improvisada. Com Ron "Pigpen" McKernan rugindo no harmônica e vocais guturais, o álbum pulsa com a energia de uma banda que reinventava o rock ao vivo.

["Morning Dew" abre com um lamento cósmico de 7 minutos, enquanto "New Potato Caboose" prenuncia o experimentalismo de Anthem of the Sun. Não perca o blues visceral de "It Hurts Me Too", com Pigpen dominando, e o épico "That's It for the Other One", uma jam que se estica como fumaça de incenso. A mixagem preserva o eco cru do auditório, com solos de guitarra de Jerry Garcia que flutuam como nuvens de ácido.

Gravado para a KSAN-FM em pleno Verão do Amor, o set foi resgatado de fitas mestras esquecidas, revelando takes embrionários nunca oficializados. É o Dead pré-fama, com Mickey Hart ainda se integrando, capturando a efervescência de uma San Francisco que mudaria a música para sempre.

Dueto Improvisado: Stills & Nash Invadem o Winterland com o Dead

Imagine um folk acústico cru e espontâneo, entrelaçado com jams psicodélicas elétricas – "Stephen Stills and Graham Nash, plus the Grateful Dead with Stephen Stills - The Winterland, San Francisco, CA, 10-25-1969" é um bootleg soundboard raríssimo, emergido só nos últimos anos, capturando 55 minutos de pura magia hippie em um set curto mas explosivo.

O duo Stills-Nash estreia "Teach Your Children" ao vivo – possivelmente a primeira vez! –, segue com o cover blues "Crossroads" e o inédito "Lonesome Valley" de Woody Guthrie, fechando em "Black Queen" acústica. Depois, Stills salta pro Dead em uma "Turn On Your Lovelight" de 20 minutos, com vocais de Pigpen e guitarra afiada, mais um bônus de "Black Queen" elétrica de dezembro.

Gravado sem ensaio, após cancelamentos de abertura, o set de 22 minutos foi ideia de Bill Graham para preencher o vazio. No auge de CSN gravando "Deja Vu", reflete a efervescência de 1969, com Nash e Stills testando harmonias que quase viraram hinos eternos.
