Pearl Sessions: A Voz de Janis Joplin Que Ainda Rasga o Céu!
Em 1971, poucos meses após a morte de Janis Joplin por overdose, chegava às lojas Pearl, o álbum que se tornaria seu testamento definitivo. Gravado com a Full Tilt Boogie Band — a “família” que ela tanto buscava, formada por John Till (guitarra), Richard Bell (piano), Ken Pearson (órgano), Brad Campbell (baixo) e Clark Pierson (bateria) —, o disco mistura com fúria e precisão o blues, soul, country e rock and roll cru que Janis venerava em Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday e Aretha Franklin.
O relançamento The Pearl Sessions (edição dupla) entrega o álbum clássico no Disc 1 e, no Disc 2, um mergulho imperdível no estúdio: takes inéditos de “Get It While You Can”, “Move Over” e “Me and Bobby McGee”, versões alternativas de “Cry Baby” e “A Woman Left Lonely”, além de conversas captadas entre as faixas que revelam a energia caótica e familiar das sessões.
Produzido por Paul Rothchild (The Doors), o trabalho foi praticamente finalizado quando Janis partiu. O que sobrou foi puro ouro: uma voz desgarrada, visceral e ao mesmo tempo acessível que continua soando revolucionária. Pearl não é só um álbum póstumo — é a prova de que Janis Joplin, a dama branca do blues rock, deixou o mundo cantando mais alto do que nunca.
